IT'S ABOUT TIME

GOOD DAY, FRIENDS AND FAMILY. IT'S A GREAT DAY TO
PRAISE GOD AND COUNT OUR BLESSINGS, HEY?
I KNOW, IT'S BEEN ALMOST 5 MONTHS SINCE MY LAST
POSTING, BUT I'LL TRY TO DO BETTER NOW THAT LIFE IS
"SETTLING DOWN" A BIT.
WE ARE MOVING! SIGNED THE PAPERS TUESDAY, AND HAVE
"HAND MONEY" ON THE SLOVAN PLACE. MOVING DATE IS
MONDAY, DECEMBER 13TH. OUR NEW ADDRESS IS:

327 FABER STREET, PITTSBURGH, PA 15214

PHONE NUMBERS WILL BE OUR CELL PHONES, MINE IS
STILL 724-263-0505, AND CINDY'S IS 412-480-7981.

CHARTEL AND C.J. (HE PREFERS TO BE CALLED "CHARLES')
WERE BOTH HERE FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER, P.T.L.
WE HAD A SWEET TIME VISITING, HOWEVER SHORT.
C.J. (CHARLES) WENT BACK TO HARRISBURG LATE THAT
EVENING, AND CHARTEL (FORMERLY KNOWN AS 'LELLY')
LEFT EARLIER, NEEDING TO MOVE SOME THINGS FROM
HER FORMER RESIDENCE AND HAVING TO WORK THE
NEXT DAY.

BOTH ARE WELL, AS ARE WE, THANK YOU AND THANK
GOD! CHARLES HAS PUT ON POUNDS, UP TO 165! HE'S
BEEN WORKING OUT, ESPECIALLY LIFTING, THOUGH HE
RUNS SOME OF IT OFF PLAYING SOCCER TWO OR THREE
TIMES A WEEK. HE LOOKS GOOD.

CHARTEL GETS PRETTIER BY THE DAY, I THINK, THOUGH
THAT JUST MIGHT BE A DAD'S TAKE. SHE WORKS FOR
'AMERICAN EXPRESS' IN THEIR CUSTOMER CALL CENTER,
AND PART-TIME FOR AN ESTABLISHED LOCAL EATERY,
DAMONE'S BY NAME.

TO REGRESS SLIGHTLY, MY TRIP TO WISCONSIN AND
UPPER MICHIGAN IN AUGUST WAS A BLESSING, INDEED!
I GOT TO SPEND A COUPLE OF DAYS WITH THE GRANDSONS,
(AND THEIR PARENTS, TOO, OF COURSE), AND ENJOYED
EVERY MINUTE OF IT. BRYCE IS A HIGHSCHOOL FRESHMAN,
PLAYING ON THE VARSITY SOCCER TEAM. GARRETT
AND NOLAN ARE GROWING RAPIDLY, THOUGH I'VE ONLY
SEEN THEM EVERY OTHER YEAR OR SO. IT WAS A BLAST
WATCHING THEM PLAY. BRYCE IS ALSO TAKING GUITAR
LESSONS.
BILL IS STILL FLYING MEDEVAC CHOPPER, AND RUNS
REGULARLY, AS DOES COLLEEN AND BRYCE. GARRETT
GOES ALONG ON HIS BIKE SOMETIME. HA-HA.

MY ABBREVIATED VISITS WITH TOM & KATE AND
"GRANDMA MARY" AND SOME OF THE CREW WERE VERY
SPECIAL! CAUGHT DAN AT HIS PLACE OF BUSINESS,
THEN MARYLOU, SUE, MIKE, JOHN, BRENDA AND "MOM"
AT HER RESIDENCE. STILL SMILE ABOUT THE TIME WE
HAD TOGETHER.

SPED FROM THERE TO UPPER MICHIGAN TO SPEND
BREAKFAST WITH JOHN & CAROL MEYER, MY LONG-
TIME FRIENDS. JOHN AND I HAD PLAYED A LOT OF
TENNIS AND RAQUETBALL DURING MY TENURE AT THE
CHURCH THERE IN IRON MOUNTAIN AND KINGSFORD.

BACK TO PA. CINDY RECEIVED THE "VOLUNTEER-OF-THE-
YEAR AWARD" FOR PITTSBURGH FROM THE R.S.V.P GROUP
AND THE AMERICAN RED CROSS. ALL 3 MAJOR LOCAL
TV STATIONS WERE THERE TO COVER THE 500-PERSON
AFFAIR WHICH WAS HELD AT A DOWNTOWN SHERATON.
SHE HAS BEEN FEATURED IN LOCAL NEWSPAPERS, AND A
SPOT IS PLANNED FOR THE CBS LOCAL NEWS CARRIER.
SHE GOT A BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN MANTLE CLOCK WITH
THE AWARD INSCRIBED ON A NAMEPLATE, AS WELL AS
A CITATION FROM OUR LOCAL STATE LEGISLATOR IN
A STURDILY-BOUND FOLDER NOTING HER ACHIEVEMENT
AND AWARD. BIG DEAL!! SHE'S NOW MORE OF A
CELEBRITY THAN I AM! HUMPH.

SERIOUSLY, OUR MOVE IS INTENDED TO CUT DOWN ON
HER LONG TRAVEL TIMES TO THE SHOP AND BACK. WE
WILL BE ONLY A FEW MINUTES FROM HER PLACE, AND
THERE ARE OPENINGS AT 3 AREA RITE AIDS FOR ME
TO FIT INTO. HOW CONVENIENT, HEY?

THE NEW PLACE IS RED BRICK, ABOUT THE SAME SIZE
OF WHAT WILL SOON BE "THE OLD PLACE', EXCEPT THAT
WE'LL NOW HAVE A COMPLETELY FINISHED BASEMENT
WITH A FAMILY ROOM/GUEST ROOM COMBINATION,
AND 2 (COUNT 'EM, TWO!) COMPLETE BATHROOMS. WHAT
A LUXURY THAT WILL BE. THE YARD IS SMALLER, SO
I WON'T GET TO EXERCISE AS MUCH WHEN I MOW, BUT
IT WON'T TAKE LONG TO GET USED TO THAT. HA.

WE TRUST THAT ALL IS WELL WITH YOU AND YOURS.
WE PRAY ALSO THAT YOU HAVE BLESSED HOLIDAYS,
WHICHEVER YOU ARE CELEBRATING!! (THAT'S FOR
YOU, RON.) YOU'RE WELCOME.

PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH. I PLAN TO RESUME WRITING
AS SOON AS WE GET SETTLED, MAYBE EVEN BEFORE.
I'M BURSTING AT THE SEAMS WITH TOPICS TO ADDRESS,
SO HOPEFULLY I'LL GET 'ER DONE BEFORE I EXPLODE.

HAVE A GREAT 2011! HOPE TO CHATATYA SOON,
LOVE, CHARTEL, CHARLES, CINDY, AND CHARLES, TOO.

HOW HOT IS IT WHERE YOU ARE?

Our fourth day in the mid-90's, and it's not fun.

Would be better if we had air-conditioning, but...

we don't! Fans help, and I keep one on me all

night so I can sleep. Break in temps comes tom'w,

PTL!

How you? Warm? Hot? Enjoying summer. Hope so.

It's Thursday, one of the 3 days that Cindy goes up

to her shop, so I've been working/playing on the

computer, preparing notes for a sermon to give on

the 18th when our minister is away, and just trying

to keep from sweating too much.

C.J. is pleased that Spain is in the Soccer Cup final,

though he's a bit concerned about their opponent,

the Netherlands, as they've romped past all of their

foes. He's off on Sunday to watch the final, and

invited me over to watch with him, but that darn

work schedule won't permit it. SIGH!

Otherwise, he's doing well. Still pursuing other

forms of work which hopefully involve his Spanish,

but nothing promising YET! Keep praying. Thanks.

Chartel changed jobs and is now at a place called

"Garden Ridge", a lawn-patio-garden store that

has inexpensive furniture, wall hangings, sports

clothing, area rugs, and a lot more. She likes it,

glad to be away from the public and their

attitudes at the restaurant(s). With summer off

from classes, she plans to continue in the Fall,

still considering respiratory therapy. PRAY. Thanks.

We're fine, just HOT. Still working four days a week,

helping at church when needed ( like the next couple

of days for a community event) and putting in my

contest entries. Won a $25 gift card today. Not much,

but enough to keep me trying.

Our health is fine. Number 70 looms large on the

horizon (next Thursday), and I'm kinda surprised that

I made it this far. How far can I go? Only God knows.

Cindy tries to keep me eating well, but I cheat "a

little" when I can. Yes, just "a little". Humph!

Plans are still to head to Wisconsin in August. Will

drive from here early on the 23rd, visit with the

grandsons and parents for 3 or 4 days, head over to

LaCrosse, hopefully, on Saturday for a mini-

reunion with Jayne's Mom and some of her family,

then up to Upper Michigan for a short visit with my

friend John Meyer before heading back to Bill's for

the night and driving home. PRAY. Thanks.

Cindy doesn't plan to go along as August is a very

busy month getting the summer clothes packed up

or sold, and putting out the autumn/winter stock.

Haven't been writing due to busyness. Hope to do

so soon, as there's so much to address. May go

back to the newspaper, as my readers are putting

the pressure on me to do so. We'll see.

GOD'S BEST TO YOU ALL. Write or call or visit.

Love, Cindy, Bill, Chartel, & C.J.

HERE'S THE LATEST FROM SLOVAN, WEIRTON, AND HARRISBURG

Good day, friend! I know it's been a while (Feb. 16th was
the date of the last update) but here's a bit of catching up.

All are well, PTL! C.J. was in for a couple of days early
last week, spending some of his vacation here, which we
enjoyed and were thankful for. Chartel just met us for
dinner at a local eatery a couple of hours ago, and it was
good to see her and do some catching up as well.

Both are doing fine. C.J. is still searching for that right
job, hopefully using his Spanish skills and education,
and he's rethinking the possibility of getting his teaching
credentials.
Chartel is unsure of her career path, but is still taking
live and online courses to get her "somewhere"!? She
talked about summer courses, but can't decide what
she wants to do or be when she completes her studies,
if ever.
C.J. and I both got different cars recently, he a Saturn,
an '04 or '05, with low mileage, gunmetal blue/silver,
and I an '02 Hyundai. Both are nice looking, economical,
and inexpensive vehicles, but both were much-needed.
I'll be working a while longer to pay mine off, as the
budget doesn't allow for cars. We expect that we'll be
able to have it all paid for by the end of the year, then
seriously contemplate "retirement"
Cindy is keeping quite busy, what with going up to
the shop at least 3 days a week, serving on the board
at church, setting up and preparing for special church
functions, etc. And, of course, she does an excellent
job of doing the household chores, with "limited" help
from me, of course.
I'm working for the Census Bureau again, this time as
an assistant crew leader as well as helping those who
didn't return their forms from earlier. Did training
last week in addition to 20-some hours at the store,
so was plenty tired come today.
Behind on my blogs, and "feeling it", especially when
there's so much to say and write about. As soon as
the schedule lightens up, "I'll be back!".
KEEP IN TOUCH. ALWAYS GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU.
GOD'S BEST TO YOU AND YOURS. LOVE, the Richeys.

P.S. I didn't forget - I couldn't forget. Last Sunday, the
25th of April, was the 11th anniversary of Jayne's
"homegoing" as we Christians say. Sometimes it seems
like yesterday, and sometimes it seems like a century
ago. So much has happened since then. Her legacy
continues on in her children. She's enjoying the glories
of Heaven, where we pray you and we all will be -
SOMEDAY!

LET IT STOP, MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE STOP!

How much snow is enough? How much snow is too much?
We've got both! Enough, already, stop - we don't need
any more. BRING SPRING! Why, the temps won't even
go up enough to melt any of that ugly white stuff! I used
to like it, thought it was "pretty", and all that, but too
much of a "good thing" is too much!
This letter will do as February's and March's, as I'm
caught in the middle of doing a lot - working many
hours at the store, and getting ready to help with the
census - 4 days of training next week.
WE ARE ALL FINE! Thank God.
Chartel owns her car now, and is busy trying to keep
it unstuck enough to get to work regularly and to
get to classes. Just chatted with her a few minutes
ago, and she's doing well.
C.J. has his own phone number and plan now,
wanting to show his "grownupness", I guess. Here's
his new number: 717-829-5007. It's a local
(Harrisburg) number, and it's with A T & T, for you
who have free mobile-to-mobile with them. Else,
nights and weekends are free, too. Give him a call,
please, and encourage him. He still wants to get
out of retail and into something with his Spanish.
Cindy has recovered well from her foot operation,
getting the release from the doctor yesterday.
She's at the shop today, as every Tuesday, Thursday,
and Saturday. In a few days she'll be on the church
board, being able to benefit them from her many
years of previous service at other congregations.
She keeps getting busier with church, what with
"coffees", dinners, serving communion, etc., and
her health is well.
I "put on the stripes" briefly recently, refereeing
a 6th-grade boys exhibition game at halftime of
a varsity game. Felt good. Looked good. Heh?
People keep saying I should come out of retirement,
but Cindy says the body won't handle it. She "may"
be right.
We'll be going to Pitt on March 21st and 23rd for the
first and second rounds of the college women's
basketball tourney, thanks to Joy and Doug's gift
at Christmas. Joy is Cindy's daughter who lives in
Winchester, Virginia.
Otherwise, we're anxiously anticipating "March
Madness", when we show each other how much
smarter we are than the other about picking
winners for the tournament. It's fun.
Bill and family are well. We need to pray about a
job opportunity that he's been given. Thanks.
The boys are growing rapidly, and I'll get out to
see them this summer if I have to crawl to get there.
RETIREMENT looms on the horizon, hopefully not-
too-distantly, as the cold and "early" mornings are
sometimes hard to bear. Know what I mean? PRAY.
Blessings to all. Hope to hear from you soon.
New postings on a couple of my other blogs for those
who are interested or just bored. Love, the Richeys.

STARTING A NEW YEAR - "RIGHT"?

"Prospero ano nuevo!", as they say in Spain and
Mexico, and most of South America (Brazil being
the only Portugese- speaking country in Latin
America).
A prosperous and healthy 2010 to you and yours!!
We're all giving thanks for the blessings of 2009,
but looking forward to even greater things this year!
A RARE MOMENT occurred on Christmas Day, as
both Chartel and C.J. were at the dinner table with
Cindy and me. WHAT A BLESSING! It had been a
while since they both shared a meal with me and
each other, and I was joyful to experience their
attendance.
Cindy had her foot operation last month, and all
went well. Her stitches are out, she recovered
quickly (as expected, she's such a trooper), and
she's now wearing regular shoes! No, she's not
a hillbilly, just had pain and discomfort trying to
do that before.
Chartel plans to take possession of her car soon,
as soon as we can get the transfer affected, and
she plans to trade it in right away, hopefully for
something more economical and less banged-up.
Huh?
She's busy with work and her online college courses,
and I'm proud of her industriousness.
C.J. was home for a couple of days, and we were able
to get new mud 'n' snows on his car, moving his
other new tires to the back. He wants to get another
vehicle, too, but is finding it hard to save the money
to do so, what with college loan payments, rent, etc.
As for me, December was toooooooo busy, what
with being needed at work extra hours, preparing
and delivering 2 sermons twice in our Pastor's
absence (he was on vacation). We have an 8:30
AM mission church service, and the "big church"
service at 11:00 AM. The cold weather
and the snow didn't help, either, as it's hard to
feel creative when your brain fluid is gelled up!
Huh?
Anyway, I'm determined to do some serious
catching up, with this being the third composition
today, and hopefully the other two before I leave
the keyboard.
Thanks for reading and for keeping in touch. We
loved the e-cards and the ones that came in the
mail. Also enjoyed tremendously the chats we
we able to get in with some of you over the holidays.
GOD BLESS YOU, and have a GREAT 2010!!
