December Thoughts To "Warm Your Heart"!!

Greetings in the Saviour's name! It's time to celebrate His birth again,
though we should celebrate Him every day of the year! We trust that
your holiday(s) are the best ever, finding you in good health and
counting your blessings!

Words from the children are encouraging. Chartel is still in classes,
doing well and enjoying good health, and going ahead with life. She
called a couple of days ago to ask what we wanted for Christmas,
and of course our main request is for her to continue being and doing
well, with hopes of getting together sometime(s) during the holidays.

C.J. is working a lot of hours with the shopping season upon him,
but we did get to see him and Leeann for a few hours Wednesday
evening and Thursday morning. The Lumina is fixed and roadworthy,
so they brought it home, and after checking the fluids, etc., I feel a
lot more comfortable with him on the road with it. He still plans to
replace it with a car "of his choice", but we'll face that when the
time comes.

We pray that they all get home for the holidays, even if for just a
day or so, and together would be even better!

Cindy went to Virginia a couple of weekends ago, visiting her
daughter, Joy, son-in-law Doug, and their girls. She had a great
time visiting, even getting to help out at school one day. We're
scheduled for dinner at Cindy's brother, George's and wife Lois'
home next Sunday.

We are well, thank God. Both getting over colds, but that is a
fact of life that we all have to face. I'm in the middle of a 2-week
plus vacation, using up my earned days off before going to half-
time just before Christmas. My next day of work won't be until
December 8th or later!

Cindy continues do her volunteer work at the lady's resale shop
on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, as she is an integral
part of the team there. She enjoys what she does, although at
times it can be a bit overwhelming. She's talking about cutting
out one of her days, but hasn't decided which one yet, thinking
about what else she wants to do with her "free" time.

I've started my first book! Began last Monday, and write a bit
almost every day, as the inspiration hits me, getting two very
interesting ideas yesterday, which I plan to outline and work
on today and the rest of the week as time and energy allows.
Have gotten in contact with some publishers already, in hopes
of having a finished product worth printing and offering. PRAY!

Have begun to cover basketball for the local school district,
filling in between my weekly columns, which are going well. I've
submitted articles into the middle of January, with quite a few
more in the notebooks, awaiting finalization and submission.
It's a blast! I managed to upset some people with my NASCAR
and politics writing, but that's the breaks - you can't please or
agree with everybody all the time. I don't intend to try. The
majority of my readers say they enjoy what I do, so..............
I plan to keep writing!

We pray that you and yours have a wonderful Christmas, and
that you'll find time to keep in touch. We are still at PO Box 327,
Slovan, Pa. 15078, and our house phone is 724-947-4010. My
cellphone is 724-263-0505, and Cindy's is 412-480-7981. You
can reach Chartel at 304-374-4490, and C.J. at 304-914-2249.
Nights and weekends are free, but we have a lot of "rollover"
minutes, over 5,500, so feel free to call at any time!

Happy holidays, and God's BEST to you all!

November Notes & News

Greetings, friend, we trust that you are enjoying life and its blessings.
We are. Cindy and I had our "second honeymoon", a driving trip to
and through much of New England, and it was perfect timing! The
colors were colorific, the skies bright blue, the temps ideal, the roads
clear, and the sights awesome!

From the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass., to a state
park on the Conneticut-Massachusetts border called Campbell's Falls,
we inhaled such beauty and wonder in God's creation. The Naismith
Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. captured our attention
for a few hours before heading to Maine. We bunked at York, Maine,
and visited the York Beach Lighthouse that evening and the next
morning before heading into Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where we
took a walking tour which included, among other sights, the
John Paul Jones homestead.

From Portsmouth down to Plimouth Plantation and Plymouth, where
the Pilgrams landed and lived, including photographing Plymouth Rock.
Thence to Cape Cod, dinner at a very nice restaurant where Cindy got
some of her seafood, then up the Cape, hitting every state park and
lighthouse up and down the "arm" that is the Cape. Driving home we
traveled through parts of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York
before landing in Harrisburg to have dinner and breakfast with C.J.

Speaking of Ceej, he is doing well. He left his part-time job with Gap,
and is concentrating on his managerial training with Hollister's. He
and Leeann see each other regularly, and he still plays soccer every
chance he gets. They're planning on a trip home for Thanksgiving,
which will be a blessing.

Chartel is Chartel. Stopping by for her TV and comforter one day,
she assured me that she is doing well, keeping up with her classes,
and working full-time at I-Hop still. She turned 19! on the 18th,
can you belive it?

Plans for my "mini-retirement" are now in place, P.T.L.! I will work
the next 3 weeks, after which I will have 13 vacation and personal
days for enjoying. When I return on December 7th, I will work
20 to 25 hours a week, 3 days, basically, while starting to do my
writing. Word is that 1 or 2 larger papers that are part of our
company may start printing my column! How sweet is that?!
I plan to write magazine articles, poetry, and of course the book
or two that I feel led/inspired to do. How sweet is that?!
Please pray for success and the ability to do well. Thanks.

Cindy is in Winchester, Virginia until tomorrow afternoon (Sunday),
visiting her daughter, Joy, and her husband, Doug, and their girls.
One of her grandaughters had her "Senior Night" last night, and
she wanted to be there for her. Cool! I'm baching it, and doing okay.

Comments, emails, letters, and calls are always welcome. Have a
great day, month, and Holiday Season. We love you, the Richeys.

If you haven't been, please visit PAFocus.com and read my columns
and sports reports. They're "different". I HEARD THAT!

Fall Fantasia!

Hello, Friend, I trust that all is well with you and yours.
We don't hear from many of you, so I pray that's "good news"!
I know that some read this blog but don't respond to it here,
but elsewise, so that's "cool".

C.J. and Leeann are back in Harrisburg, she at school, he at
work - fulltime for Hollister's in their management program,
and parttime for Gap. They ran home last weekend to see
Leeann's father who had fallen from a ladder while trimming
trees - he broke one leg, the foot on the other, and did some
serious damage to his back. He's in a Pittsburgh hospital.

The Lumina that I gave Ceej to drive for the last couple of
years he smashed up a bit by not being able to stop for a
car at a stop sign. He was coming around a corner to get
onto a highway and forgot about the stop. Only $2,800
in damage to the other guy's car (thank God for insurance),
and some serious damage to our car, which one of his
friends did a quick fix to so it could be driven. ONLY THING
is, on his way back last Sunday evening, about a mile before
his destination, the hood came loose and cracked the wind-
shield while he was going about 55 mph!! Thank God he
was able to stop and not get hurt. Whew! Wow! He said
Leeann drove the last mile while he walked beside the
car and held the hood down, as it wouldn't latch. Whew!

While waiting for estimates on repairs just to keep the
car on the road, he's looking for a bicycle to ride to work
and back, and Leeann is helping with rides when she can.

Wanna buy a car? Cheap? Hopefully he'll be able to get
something inexpensive soon, and we'll try to help some.
Otherwise, he's healthy, busy, and doing fine, thank God.

Last time I talked to Chartel, which was weeks ago, she
was in classes at the community college, still working at
I-Hop, and doing okay. Not much communication from her,
so we just keep praying.

Cindy and I leave Sunday morning for New England, an
8-day driving trip to visit some of the sites I saw while on
the road with Rite Aid. We'll begin with Stockbridge and
Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and the Norman Rockwell
Museum! Want to ride along? Then, just an hour or so
east we'll see the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame! Wow!
Want to ride along? Next on our journey will probably be
the coast of Maine, Kennebunkport (?), Kittery, etc., where
I stayed in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and trained just
over the river/state line at Kittery. Coming south after
that, we'll circumvent Boston (may stop and sightsee a
bit), then on down to Plimouth Plantation, Cape Cod, and
back to Bridgewater, Mass., possibly visiting her daughter
Joy and family in Winchester, Virginia on our way home.
Want to ride along?

We're looking forward to our "second honeymoon" as we
call it, and which I laughingly explain because the first one
was so much fun we thought we'd do another! Why not?!

My newspaper writing is a blast! People have been so
kind and gracious, commenting constantly (positively, so
far), that I may never quit! I do intend to cease covering
sports after the football season, as my study is now set
up and I want to begin to work on the book(s) that I've
been thinking and talking about for years. Finally - we're
getting close! PTL!

Work plans for me are to cut back after this year, beginning
part-time on January 1st, and then, hopefully, to retire
completely at the end of February or March. PRAY!

Cindy still drives to the North Hills of Pittsburgh 3 times
a week to work in the non-profit women's resale shop.
We try to arrange my schedule to be home the same days
and times, though it hasn't always been possible. Soon!

THANKS for "tuning in"! Hope you get a chance to read
some of my columns - I'm enjoying writing them. Call, write,
reply, or visit when you can. Love, Cindy, Chartel, C.J., and Bill

Fall, Football, Fun, and Fantasy

Good day, friend, thanks for checking in!
We're starting the new month off with the warmest (hottest) September
in memory - temperatures in the mid to upper 80's every day!
I wonder if it has anything to do with our "global irresponsibility"? Duh!
God does say that the next time the earth is destroyed that it will
"cleansed by fire" - Huh? 'Spose He knew what He was talking about? Duh!

'Nuff of that - let's get on with the latest from us four Richeys...........

Chartel is to start her college classes this week - GREAT NEWS! At
least she doesn't intend to waitress her whole life, which is not the
worst thing that could happen, but SHE IS SO SMART she should
let someone else do the waitressing, and she can have an enjoyable
and productive career doing what will fulfill her! PTL!

C.J. is back in Harrisburg, sleeping on a friend's couch for a couple
of weeks before he and another friend can move into their apartment
on the 12th. He is in management training for Hollister's clothing
stores, and will be working part-time for The Gap clothing store at
the same mall. Leeann is finishing her last year at Messiah College,
and hopes/plans to enter the teaching field (English) when she
graduates.

It was sure nice to have them around for parts of the summer!

Our honeymoon/vacation to Wisconsin was most enjoyable. I had
my first/last helicopter ride (Bill piloted), and Cindy loved it. Now
she wants to go up in a hot-air balloon! Huh? Not me, thank you.
The grandsons, Bryce, Garrett, and Nolan were a pleasure to be
around (you, too, Colleen and Bill), and all had birthdays in the
same time frame. Bryce is now a teenager (13), and has chosen
cross-country as his sport, following in his Dad's feetsteps, that
tri-athlete, marathoner, and Boston Marathon veteran. Bill is
now a race coordinator, and travels around the state some
weekends working various races. Colleen keeps busy (imagine
that, with 3 boys!), running herself, teaching piano, and trying
to keep up with church activities, etc. Whew! They tire me.

Cindy and I are "settling in" to married life, getting all the name
changes, document changes, insurances, etc. handled, developing
a schedule of sorts - hard to do with my sports writing, games
to watch, keeping in touch with family and friends, and she still
working 3 days a week at the clothing store, me still at Rite Aid
fulltime, at least for now. Plans are to cut back on my hours,
probably 20 to 25 a week, once one of the two remaining major
debts is settled, and then I can begin to start my serious writing.
I want/plan to write a book or two (or more), once we get the
house arranged and my study is set up. We'll do that after C.J.
takes what he needs to set up his place.

Otherwise, all are healthy. My "run for president" netted me
approximately 75% of the votes, with Obama (I have trouble even
writing that name) getting 15%, and McKain 10%. Now to see
if my supporters will mount a nationwide "write-in" campaign!
Ha-Ha! Hope you took the opportunity to read my columns in
the PA Focus! It's been fun!

Well............"that's all folks!" Thanks for "tuning in". My next
few columns will be "Weeds", which just came out, "Pet Peeves",
"A Few Of My Favorite Things", "Acronyms", and "Familiar, But
Not So Familiar Words".

Call or write or post comments here. Cindy's cell phone number is
412-480-7981, mine is 724-263-0505, C.J.'s 304-914-2249, and
Chartel's 304-374-4490. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 327,
Slovan, PA 15078.

WE LOVE YOU AND PRAY FOR YOU REGULARLY!

The Story Can Now Be Told!

The deal is done! The die is cast! Our future is sealed! We are "one"!

Yes, at 2 PM on August 2nd, Cindy and I repeated the vows we wrote
for each other, and were united in marriage!

After a "whirlwind" honeymoon in Wisconsin, the couple is now residing
in Slovan. We took a helicopter ride with Bill (my son) piloting, my first
and last helicopter ride. Huh! We visited the Outagamie County
Historical Society Museum, with the "AKA Houdini" exhibit, which was
very fascinating. We spend as much time as we could with "our"
grandsons, Bryce (13), Garrett (11), and Nolan (6), including watching
Karate practice, eating at a Mexican restaurant, swimming in our
hotel's pool, and taking pictures as they played in an amusement
center, their favorite being the "bumper cars"!

We also drove up to Green Bay to meet my friend John Meyer, and
visited Lambeau Field and the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame.

Back to home, and reality - we got here about 4:30 PM Saturday, and
I was back to work at 2 on Sunday. Off today, we drove up to Beaver,
PA for lunch and a very enjoyable visit with Aunt Doris, my Dad's sister.

C.J. drove to Harrisburg for an interview today, and is hopeful for the
position with Hollister's, which he will work while locating assignments
utilizing his Spanish. He has a friend from Messiah that he will share
housing with, and he will be close to Leeann as she finishes her last year
of college at Messiah. He's driving home tonight to work early
tomorrow at Pier One, which also has offered him a transfer to a
Harrisburg area store.

Chartel announced this week her intentions to begin college classes
at West Virginia Northern!! WOW! She needed her GED scores and
a form filled in by her father (me?), so I'll be glad to try to support
her in any way I can. Happy to see that she plans to use those
God-given brains and abilities!

Please logon to PAFocus.com for my weekly columns and other
feature articles. My current subject for the column is "Why I
Should Be President Of the U.S.!" Take a peek - you'll be
surprised and maybe impressed by my credentials and my
platform. Ha-Ha? Maybe not so funny.

Call or write or email - be glad to hear from you,
Cindy, Chartel, C.J. and that other guy.

Ding dong, the bells are gonna chime........

It's here! By this time tomorrow Cindy and I will be married, and about to be one our way
to Wisconsin!

The ceremony will be performed by her minister/brother, George, at the Cathedral of
Hope/East Liberty Presbyterian Church, in Pittsburgh. Just a small group of family
and a couple of close friends for each of us will be in attendance, then off to a family-
owned restaurant for an intimate dinner.

Plans are to go part way that evening, then arrive in Kimberly/Appleton late Sunday
afternoon or early evening. We'll visit and entertain and be entertained by Bill and
Colleen and the 3 grandsons, whom I haven't seen since last summer, and who
Cindy hasn't met or talked to yet.

C.J. and Leeann, his girlfriend, intend to be at the wedding, but Chartel still has to
let her intentions be known. Hopefully she'll show up.

C.J. will be leaving in a couple of weeks to move back to Harrisburg. His job at
Hollister's is still open, and the opportunity to take management training is
still being offered him, so he'll have a respectable income while pursuing the
use of his Spanish skills. It's been good to have him around the house, though
we haven't had much time together, just got out once to hit the tennis balls
around.

My writing for the PAFocus paper is taking off, with my weekly column getting
a lot of attention and comments from my readers. Currently we are running a
4-part series of my many trips for Rite Aid, with Cape Cod and Plimouth
Plantation featured in this week's edition, complete with 4 pictures I took.

A lot of folks liked my "Do You Remember?" columns, and a third one will
probably be in print soon. The next two weeks my title is "If I Was The
President!", which is meeting with mixed reactions from my following.

Ha-Ha!

Got to finish packing tonight, copy my vows on 3 x 5 cards (Cindy already
has done hers), and get a good night's rest. Oh, yes, we wrote our own
vows for the wedding - they will posted on the web at some point - we'll
let you know.

That's all for now. More after we get back home. Love, Chartel, C.J.,
Cindy and Bill.

TEMPIS FUGITS!!

Please excuse my attempt at Latin (I never studied it), but however it's spelled, the phrase
means "time flies"! How true! Here we are only 27 days from August 2nd, and the house
and I are undergoing "Total Makeovers"! We (Cindy, especially), are working hard to
get things in order and done before the wedding. Whew! As you noticed from my
column in the PAFocus, more stuff has gone out the door than I realized I/we had!

Oh yes, I write a weekly column now for my paper, on whatever subjects come to
my mind or attention, as you can see by logging on. My next subject will be
"Strolling Through A Cemetery", and after that nostalgia will be my theme. So
far my readers have been very complimentary and encouraging, so I'll continue
with gusto. My editor and the paper's owner seem to like what I do, so here goes
my "new career", and my last one if I have a say in the matter. When you logon,
click on "Local Columns", "Local Sports", or "Editorials".

C.J. is working at Pier 1, spending as much time as he can with Leeann, which
is not enough, I believe, and they've been at the house a few times. She's a
very nice young lady, and they seem to get along very well. He is still
planning to go back to Harrisburg next month, share an apartment with one
of two friends who are already there, and work "somewhere", hopefully
using his college-honed Spanish skills. He keeps the yard mowed and
trimmed, and we're hoping to get out to hit a few tennis balls around this
week, since I'm on vacation all week.

Speaking of "vacation", we have a contractor coming tomorrow to start
building/rebuilding walls in the basement, install a sump pump, insulate,
install a new toilet, and surround, and put a vent fan in the bathroom.
He also plans to grade the ground around the house to help eliminate
the water that seeps into the basement.

Chartel stopped by a little while ago to bring her June payment, and
didn't say much except that she's still at I-Hop and doing okay. She
is still with Ryan, they're taking good care of the car (so she says),
and she hopes to start her new job at a new sports lounge soon.

Cindy is spending her "free" time, Mondays, Wednesdays, and
Fridays, when not at the clothing store, demolishing the downstairs
to get ready for the new construction. I get tired watching, hearing,
and seeing what she's done. Too much energy! Of course, she's
younger than I am (by a year and a half), so she's "more fit" for
physicality than I. Ha-Ha!!

The paper has asked me to continue my sports writing, along with
the weekly column, and to cover people, events, etc. of interest to
our readers, so here I go. My Rite-Aid store sold out of our papers
3 weeks in a row, the most recent issue within less than 2 days, so
I went to Weirton yesterday and picked up 20 additional copies,
most of which are already sold, so people are liking what they read,
I guess. I hope.

Yes, I still work full-time at the drugstore, and have started to
compile a travelogue on my recent travels to train for the company,
from Maine to Cape Cod to South Carolina. First installment should
be in print week after next. Hope you like them.

PLEASE PRAY for our continued preparations for married life, for
C.J. as he settles into Harrisburg soon, and for Chartel that she is
happy and growing in her life and career. WE LOVE YOU!!!

Cindy, Chartel, C.J. and Bill

JUNE JUBILATION!!

From Maine to South Carolina to Cape Cod to Virginia and North Carolina,
all the way to Ohio, Wisconsin, and, yes, Oregon, here's the latest from the
"Queendom" of Slovan!

A "white tornado", aka Cindy, is storming through the house, turning our
"mud shack" to a "castle" for Queen Cindy's arrival in late July/early
August. The soon-to-be Mrs. Bill Richey will moving to Slovan after
the August 2nd wedding, so I've dubbed her the "Queen of Slovan", a
dubious honor to be sure, but one she's apparently willing to accept.

The "master bedroom" has already gone through an overhaul, as has
Chartel's room, which she doesn't inhabit presently, and today the
hallway and living room are "suffering" through a change and
rearrange.

Paint, carpet, and more is in the planning, as well as a bathroom
vent, new porchlight, and various other repairs by our "handyman",
Tom, who will hopefully be here soon since my "traveling days"
are over. My last training gig ended last Thursday, so I'll be
able to "help" with the renovations, AND get back to writing
for the newspaper!! Hey, Hey!

C.J.'s room, which he keeps in immaculate condition, will not
need any attention now, but may get a mild and gentle
do-over if/when he moves out.

As previously mentioned, Ceej is here for a few weeks,
planning to go back to Harrisburg sometime in August,
hopefully after the wedding, and he has a friend with whom
he will "bunk" while settling into a job, hopefully teaching.

No change, really in Chartel's life, at least that we know of,
as she still works at I-HOP, still with Ryan, and still makes
herself somewhat unavailable to her Dad. I expect her soon
as she needs to relate her wishes for her "stuff" still in her
room, she still owes May's car/insurance payment, and her
registration card & sticker are here, due on by July 1st.

As for our wedding, it will be a very small one, with just
immediate family and a handful of friends, in the chapel
of East Liberty Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, either
1 or 2 PM. If you want to attend, please call or write so
we can provide more details.

A "honeymoon" may be in Hawaii, as a friend I recently made
has offered a house on the "big island" for us to use, FREE!
We're waiting for him to get back to us with availability.

Hope to hear from you soon. Please feel free to write or
call, including comments to this blog.

MAY MARVELS AND MIRACLES!!

This is the month for many, many exciting items- Jayne would have been 53
on the 1st! Bill turned 42 yesterday! C.J. graduates college on the 17th!
Cindy and I announced our engagement and pending wedding plans for late
July or early August! WOW! (I say it louder!)

Still with me?

Cindy and I and C.J.'s "friend", Briana, will travel to Grantham very early
on the 17th for the 10 AM ceremony, the four of us will do lunch, then
Briana will stay and ride home with him, while Cindy and I either return
home or meet with her daughter, Joy and her husband, Doug, near the
Breezewood exit of the PA Turnpike, for dinner and a "getting to know you"
session.

C.J. still plans to summer at home, work and help around the house, then
back to Harrisburg to work/teach and be near Briana. PRAY for him to
find the right job(s) for both time periods.

Chartel is up-to-date with "things", financially speaking, working at I-HOP,
and planning to rent the house when I move out to be with my wife. She
and her "gentleman friend", Ryan have offered to do some repairs, etc.,
here, and I will be glad to rent the place to them for about half of what
they are paying for a townhome now. Of course they will pay the utilities,
etc.

I offered to sign her car over to her after she makes the next two (May and
June) loan and insurance payments, having 2/3 of her obligations filled.
She will just have to secure her own insurance, which she should be able to
do for less than her payments to me.

Cindy is a lady that I met a little while back, and she is a "miracle"!!
We have so much in common, it has to be the hand of God that brought us
together!! We both feel that way. She is the office manager for her Doctor-
of-Audiology brother, George, who operates 9 hearing clinics. She also is
a board member and volunteer (3 days a week) at an upscale women's
retail clotheing store in Pittsburgh's "North Hills".

She has already talked with "Pastor George" from St. Paul, "met" Peg,
my sister via phone, and hopes to "meet" Fred, Peg, and others soon.
YOU CAN'T HELP BUT LOVE HER - SHE'S A GENUINE, CHRISTIAN
LADY who loves "March Madness", the key to our meeting online!

Cindy is an elder in her church, has been on numerous short-term
missionary trips to Africa, gone to help with sunami relief, and send
assistance to and corresponds with her African friends. She hopes to
go back at least one more time. (And she hopes to take a "friend".)
We are praying for God's guidance as to what He wants us to do
as a team, as far as ministry/church involvement. Please pray with
us.

Announcements, pictures, etc. will be sent out soon.

Greetings from all of us, and know that you are loved! Chartel, C.J., Cindy, and Bill.

P.S. We plan to remain in the southeast section of Pittsburgh, looking for a
house to rent, so she can remain close to her job, with plans for me to
transfer to a Rite-Aid in the area. Another few things to pray about.

YOU IN HEAVEN!!

APRIL - PROMISES OF BETTER THINGS!!

GREETINGS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND "OTHERS"!

THANK YOU FOR CARING AND TAKING THE TIME TO "LOOK IN" ON US!

NO SERMONETTE THIS MONTH (SORRY FOR THOSE WHO MIGHT LOOK
FOR ONE). JUST THE LATEST ON "WHAT'S HAPPENING" WITH WE 3.

CHARTEL IS DOING FINE, THOUGH THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT SHE
WILL HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY TO REMOVE A GROWTH INSIDER HER -
NOT URGENT, YET, DOCTOR IS JUST GOING TO MONITOR IT FOR A
WHILE BEFORE MAKING ANY DECISIONS. OTHERWISE, HEALTHWISE,
SHE'S FINE.

SHE IS BETWEEN JOBS (AGAIN), FEELING SHE WAS DISMISSED WITHOUT
CAUSE, WHICH MAY WELL BE THE CASE, AS SHE WAS WORKING FOR A
BRANCH OF "COUNTRYWIDE", THE INFAMOUS, UNDER-INVESTIGATION
MORTGAGE COMPANY. HER AGENCY IS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER JOB
FOR HER, BUT IN THE MEANTIME CAR AND INSURANCE PAYMENTS ARE
PUT "ON HOLD", WHICH IS FINE. I EVEN ASKED HER A FEW TIMES IF
SHE NEEDED ANY MONEY, AND SHE SAID "NO.". THAT'S GOOD.

STILL NO TALK OF SCHOOL FROM HER - I HAVE TROUBLE TALKING TO
HER AT ALL FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES ABOUT ANYTHING,
EITHER ON THE PHONE OR IN PERSON. GUESS OL' DAD IS NOT #1
ANYMORE.

JUST TALKED TO C.J. HIS PLANS NO LONGER INCLUDE MADRID, BUT
INCLUDE SLOVAN, INSTEAD! HUH? YES, SLOVAN. HE IS WORKING WITH
THE SCHOOL (MESSIAH COLLEGE) FOR JOB PLACEMENT, USING HIS
SPANISH SKILLS, BUT THAT WILL PROBABLY NOT START UNTIL NEXT
FALL, SO HE HOPES TO COME HOME ONE WEEKEND, SOON, PUT IN JOB
APPLICATIONS, AND WORK HERE DURING THE SUMMER. HE WANTS TO
HELP WORK ON THE HOUSE AND YARD TO GET THEM INTO "SELLING"
SHAPE IF I DECIDE TO UNLOAD THE PLACE AND SITUATE INTO SOMETHING
SMALLER, LIKE A SENIOR'S COMPLEX OR EFFICIENCY.

HE SEEMS TO HAVE A "ROMANTIC" INTEREST IN A YOUNG LADY WHO
STILL HAS A YEAR OF SCHOOL LEFT, SO MY THINKING IS THAT HE WANTS
TO BE IN THE AREA WHERE SHE IS AS PART OF HIS REASONING FOR
STAYING IN THE HARRISBURG AREA.

JUST A REMINDER - HIS GRADUATION DATE IS SATURDAY, MAY 17!!!

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING, I MAY BE ABLE TO GET YOU
TICKETS, SO LET ME KNOW ASAP!!

I WILL BE SENDING HIS ANNOUNCEMENTS AND PICTURES SOON, SO LET
ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO BE ON THE LIST. MY CELL #724-263-0505.

MY PLANS ARE TO DRIVE OVER THERE "VERY EARLY" THAT DAY, AS THE
CEREMONY IS AT 10 AM, AND COMING HOME SOON AFTER, AS HE SAYS
HE DOESN'T NEED ANY HELP TRANSPORTING HIS THINGS HOME.

I WILL TAKE PLENTY OF PICTURES WITH MY DIGITAL, SO LET ME KNOW
IF YOU WANT ANY, PLEASE. DON'T WANT TO LOAD ANYONE DOWN WITH
PHOTOS THEY WON'T APPRECIATE.

AS FOR ME - NOT MUCH HAPPENING. JUST GETTING OVER A BAD (GOOD?)
COLD - IT SLOWED ME DOWN AND CAUSED ME TO LOSE A COUPLE OF
POUNDS, SO I'M NOT TOTALLY UPSET. HA-HA. I'LL BE HOME UNTIL THE
16TH WHEN I TRAVEL TO EMMAUS, PA, JUST OUTSIDE OF ALLENTOWN,
AND JUST NORTH OF PHILLY. WILL STOP AND HAVE LUNCH WITH C.J.
ON THE WAY OVER (AND HIS FRIEND?), AND ON THE WAY BACK ON THE
24TH. TRAVELING SHOULD BE OVER SOON, AS ALL OF THE NEW STORES
ARE SUPPOSED TO BE INTEGRATED BY THE END OF JUNE.

I'M STILL WRITING SPORTS ARTICLES WHEN I CAN, HAVING COVERED OUR
STATE WRESTLING CHAMPION, A LOCAL "TOUGHMAN" EVENT IN WHEELING,
W.VA., AND REPORTING ON THE STEELER'S CHARITY BASKETBALL GAME
THAT I REFEREED AGAIN. I DO PICTURES FOR ALL OF THE EVENTS, SO YOU
CAN GO TO PAFOCUS.COM AND CLICK ON "LOCAL SPORTS" TO READ MY
STUFF. PLAN TO DO A WRITEUP ON A LOCAL RIFLE TEAM WHICH HAD THE
TOP SHOOTER IN THE LATEST CHAMPIONSHIP, AND WHICH ALSO PLACED
SECOND AS A TEAM. THE SCHOOL IS HAVING AN ASSEMBLY TO HONOR THE
WRESTLER ON TUESDAY, SO I'LL BE THERE, TOO TO REPORT, TAKE PIX,
AND WITNESS HIS SIGNING THE LETTER-OF-INTENT TO PLAY FOOTBALL AT
ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE.

HOPING TO CATCH A BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL GAME OR TWO BEFORE I
GO ON THE ROAD. WILL PROBABLY BE SUBMITTING ARTICLES WEEKLY
WHEN MY TRAVELS END AND I'M HOME FULLTIME. MY EDITOR LIKES ME.
SHE IS SENDING ME TO PITTSBURGH NEXT SATURDAY TO COVER THE
"PITTSBURGH IRISH AND CLASSICAL THEATRE" PRESENTATION OF
"KING LEAR"!! I'M EXCITED! WILL BE GREAT TO ENLARGE MY BOUND-
ARIES AND COVER VENUES OTHER THAN JUST SPORTS.

PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH. ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO RESPOND TO THESE POSTINGS, YOU JUST HAVE TO
OPEN A GOOGLE ACCOUNT, WHICH IS EASY TO DO. OTHERWISE, JUST
CALL, E-MAIL TO HEYRICHEY@YAHOO.COM, OR CHATATME WHEN YOU
SEE ME.

HAVE A GRRRRRRRRRRREAT APRIL, HAPPY SPRING, AND GLORIOUS SUMMER!

WHOOPS! SPEAKING OF SUMMER - MY CURRENT PLANS ARE TO BE IN THE
MIDWEST, NAMELY WISCONSIN, JUNE 29TH THROUGH........? HAVE VACATION
SCHEDULED THROUGH JULY 13TH, AND HAD HOPED TO VISIT OTHER SPOTS,
BUT GAS PRICES, ETC., MAY CHANGE THAT. MAY SPEND THE LATTER PART
OF MY TIME OFF AT HOME, WHICH IS NOT NECESSARILY BAD. I'LL FIND
"SOMETHING" TO DO.

LOVE, CHARTEL, C.J., BILL

THE 'IDES' OF MARCH? WHAT MEANS THAT?

You probably know, being the scholar that you are, but my current interpretation is "the
I woulds or I coulds" of March. This time next month (April, ha-ha), as you look back,
what will you have gained, accomplished, grown, or succeeded in the previous month?

Can we, do we dare, to take measure of ourselves by taking stock, looking for "progress"
(whatever that means to each of us), or........are we improving, bettering, growing, or
making a difference to those around us!?! Hurts to think about it sometimes, doesn't
it? My goal, personally, now that I'm "heading into the sunset", is to make each day
COUNT, to make strides, to make a mark, to touch other lives, to leave this world
knowing that I didn't just spin my wheels, exist, be one of the ordinary-he doesn't
matter persons. I WANT MY BEING HERE TO MATTER!!

So..............(diatribe is almost over)..........I have greatly limited my TV watching, I have
determined to begin writing, I have put my "social life" on hold (maybe permanently),
and I am renewing my spiritual vows to myself and to God to be what He wants me to
be, and to do what He wants me to do. Hope I can discern those things. PRAY.

Oh, yes, about the family - Chartel is still with her coworker/friend, keeping somewhat
in touch (when she needs something), awaiting the reactivation of her drivers license
on the 17th, and otherwise in good health apparently. She did have a checkup recently,
and was supposed to have her annual eye exam, so as far as I know, those were done.
Rarely see her or talk, except now and then on the cellphones, so can't really report
much. Still praying that she decides to go to school and establish a career worthwhile.

C.J. is anticipating graduation on May 17th from Messiah College. His plans are still
nebulous, as he has an opportunity to spend 2 week in London working with Muslims
(telling them about the Saviour), and he is considering house-sitting for 3 months in
Madrid, Spain, for a missionary couple who will be coming stateside for a furlough.
If he gets those gigs, he will probably come home for a while and work while he
cements his plans for graduate school or for a teaching post somewhere. PRAY!!

I'm home from Tappahannock, Virginia, and don't go out again until the 19th, when
I trek up to Batavia, New York. I think my body and mind need the time off to
rest. I have my ticket for the "Celtic Woman" concert at Mellon Arena on the 17th
St. Patrick's day, and am looking much forward to that. Then, I'll scurry back on the
26th or early the 27th to be here to referee the Pittsburgh Steeler Charity Basketball
game at our high school. It'll be my 3rd time doing that, and it's a real blast, since
the Steelers' manager lets me cut up and get involved in the game (being goofy)!

This may be my last posting, as I mentioned previously, as it appears that not many
people are interested. Very few, in fact. Almost nobody, actually. Plus, I'm thinking
about cutting off the house phone, internet connection, and TV cable so I can
concentrate on things that matter. If I get more than the usual "hits" this month, I
may reconsider and continue posting, but it's frustrating making this effort and not
being of any concern or interest to others. Make sense? Not angry or upset, just
not wanting to expend the time and energy if it doesn't matter to anyone else.

HAPPY MARCH!! Feel free to call any of us at anytime. I posted the cellphone nos.
earlier - you can recall them if you want. Love y'all. C.J., Chartel, Bill

AN "EXTRA" DAY TO LOVE!!

YES, IT'S CORNY OL' ME, AGAIN. IT IS FEBRUARY OF A "LEAP YEAR", SO WE GET AN
EXTRA DAY TO MAKE MORE MONEY, GET MORE REST, PAY THE GOVERNMENT MORE
TAXES, GET OLDER WITHOUT GETTING OLDER (?), OR TO SHARE THE LOVE ONE
MORE DAY, SINCE IT IS "HEART MONTH" AND VALENTINE'S MONTH.

DO YOU FEEL LOVED? DO WE HAVE TO "FEEL IT" TO KNOW THAT WE ARE LOVED?
YOU ARE LOVED, YOU KNOW, BY CHARTEL, C.J. AND MYSELF. WE APPRECIATE YOU
AND ALL THAT YOU ARE, AND WE DO PRAY FOR YOU! OH, AND ONE MORE THING,
GOD LOVES YOU MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW - IN FACT, HE SENT HIS SON,
JESUS, TO PROVE THAT LOVE IN A VERY DRAMATIC AND PROVOCATIVE FASHION!!
DO YOU DARE TO LOVE HIM IN RETURN? IT MAY MEAN SOME CHANGES (FOR THE
BETTER) IN YOU LIFE!!! ARE YOU READY? IT'S A DECISION YOU'LL NEVER REGRET.

OKAY, ON WITH THE RICHEY NEWS: I WAS IN VIRGINIA MOST OF JANUARY, FIRST
IN PORTSMOUTH, THEN IN HAMPTON. GOT TO VISIT COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG,
WHICH WAS A THRILL, BRINGING HOME A BUNCH OF PICS. WILL BE IN NORTH
CAROLINA NEXT WEEK, WILMINGTON TO BE EXACT, THEN HOME 5 DAYS AND OFF
TO TAPPAHANOCK(?) VIRGINIA 'TIL THE END OF THE MONTH.

TRIED TO CONTACT FRED AND DEB THIS LAST TRIP, SINCE I WAS PRIVILEGED TO
DRIVE AND GOING THROUGH CHARLESTON TO PICK UP I-64, BUT ONLY GOT TO
TALK TO CHRIS. CAME BACK A DIFFERENT ROUTE, WHICH TOOK ME CLOSE TO
C.J. AT MESSIAH COLLEGE, SO I SIDETRACKED A BIT AND WE GOT TO SPEND A
LITTLE TIME OVER LUNCH BEFORE I HEADED ON HOME. THAT WAS A BLESSING!

HE ENJOYED HIS JANUARY "OFF", HAVING NO CLASS(ES), BUT NOW HAS TO HIT
THE BOOKS AGAIN THIS NEXT WEEK. HE PICKED UP A BUG THE LAST COUPLE OF
DAYS AND SPENT THEM MOSTLY IN BED, BEING DIZZY, VOMITING, ETC. I'LL CALL
WHEN DONE HERE AND CHECK ON HIM. DON'T LIKE TO WAKE HIM UP TOO "EARLY".

HIS PLANS FOR THE FUTURE ARE STILL UP IN THE AIR (PRAYERFULLY). HE IS
CONSIDERING COMING HOME AND WORKING IN THE PITTSBURGH AREA, USING
HIS LANGUAGES HOPEFULLY, GETTING HIS OWN CAR (HE'S BEEN DRIVING THE
LUMINA), AND PAYING OFF SOME OF HIS SCHOOL BILLS. I'LL BE HERE OFF AND
ON, AS MY TRAVELING WILL KEEP ME ON THE ROAD A FEW MORE MONTHS, BUT
WE'LL GET SOME TIME TOGETHER BETWEEN TRIPS. I MAY EVEN PICK UP THE
TENNIS RACQUET A TIME OR TWO. PRAY FOR HIM AS HE CONSIDERS WHAT HE
WANTS TO DO, AND WHAT GOD WANTS HIM TO DO. HE IS IN CONTACT WITH THE
COLLEGE'S PLACEMENT OFFICE, SEARCHING POSSIBILITIES WHERE HE CAN USE
HIS EDUCATION.

AS FOR #1 DAUGHTER - SHE'S STILL TRYING TO FIND HERSELF! (HA-HA?) SHE
LEFT HER JOB AT STARBUCKS AND BEGINS A NEW ONE MONDAY, ANSWERING
PHONES AT $350 A WEEK TEMPORARILY, WITH THE PROSPECT OF BEING HIRED
FULL-TIME AFTER A 2 OR 3 MONTH PERIOD. STILL NO PLANS FOR SCHOOL,
WHICH I'M NOT HAPPY ABOUT, AS SHE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DO ALMOST
ANYTHING SHE SETS HER HEART AND MIND TO DO. PRAY FOR HER, TOO, THAT
SHE'LL GET SOME DIRECTION AND BECOME AT LEAST PART OF WHAT SHE CAN
BE - AND BE HAPPY DOING IT! A FATHER'S/MOTHER'S JOB IS NEVER THROUGH,
I GUESS, AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW, BUT I'M HOPING TO "RETIRE" FROM IT
"SOMEDAY", WHATEVER THAT MEANS.

SPEAKING OF RETIREMENT - MY PLANS ARE FOR JUNE 30TH, 2010, JUST A FEW
DAYS BEFORE BIRTHDAY # 70! WHAT DO YOU THINK? CAN I DO IT? GOD ONLY
KNOWS. HAVE TO GET THE FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS UNDER CONTROL BY
THEN, SO I CAN MAYBE JUST WORK PART-TIME AT RITE-AID AND KEEP
SURVIVE WITH THAT AND SOCIAL SECURITY. (I CAN DREAM, CAN'T I?) THAT'S
SOMETHING ELSE YOU CAN PRAY FOR - YOU DO PRAY DON'T YOU? HOPE SO.

OKAY, THAT'S IT - HAVE TO SHAVE, SHOWER, GO IN EARLY TO SUBMIT MY
EXPENSES FROM THE LAST TRIP, AND WORK 2 TO 9 PLUS. WORK EARLY
TOMORROW, SO I'LL GET A CHANCE TO WATCH THE GIANTS GIVE THE "NEW
CHEATING PATRIOTS" THEIR JUST DESSERTS! GO SENATOR SPECTER! CALL
IF YOU NEED FURTHER EXPLANATION.

LOVE YOU ALL, FEEL FREE TO LEAVE COMMENTS - CHARTEL, C.J., BILL.

A BRAND NEW YEAR - A BRAND NEW YOU?

NOT MEANING TO PONTIFICATE, BUT THE START OF EACH YEAR BRINGS TO MIND
THE POSSIBILITIES OF A NEW BEGINNING TO BECOME A BETTER YOU! WHAT HAVE
YOU DETERMINED TO DO? MORE LATER.

WE TRUST THAT YOU HAVE HAD ENJOYABLE HOLIDAYS. THANKS TO THOSE OF YOU
WHO SENT CARDS OF LEFT COMMENTS ON THIS SITE. WE APPRECIATE YOUR
THOUGHTFULNESS, AND THINK OF YOU (PRAYERFULLY) OFTEN.

C.J. IS HOME, HAVING BEEN HERE SINCE THE 19TH. IT'S BEEN A PLEASURE TO HAVE
HIS COMPANY, TO COOK SOME, AND EVEN TO HIT THE OL' PONDEROSA YESTERDAY.
HE GOT HIS NEW LAPTOP FOR HIMSELF, PARTLY WITH FUNDS HE RECEIVED FROM
CHARTEL AND ME FOR CHRISTMAS. HE INTENDED TO GIVE ME HIS PREVIOUS
UNIT, BUT 'LEL' BEAT HIM TO IT, GIVING ME ONE AS A GIFT, COMPLETE WITH
CARRYING CASE. HE GOT A FULL GROOMING KIT FROM ME SOME GIFT CARDS,
AND CASH, SO HE'S GOOD-TO-GO. HE'LL BE LEAVING ON MONDAY TO GO BACK
TO SCHOOL, LOOKING FORWARD TO NO CLASS IN JANUARY, STUDYING, PLAYING
SOCCER, LIFTING, AND LOOKING INTO JOB POSSIBILITES AFTER MAY 17TH, THE
DATE OF HIS "COMMENCEMENT" (GRADUATION). HARDLY SEEMS POSSIBLE,
HEY, JANE'S LITTLE MAN FINISHING COLLEGE ALREADY? WOW! PTL!
A REMINDER, HIS CELLPHONE NUMBER IS 304-914-2249, HIS E-MAIL IS
CR1195@MESSIAH.EDU.

CHARTEL IS STILL 'OUT OF THE HOUSE', APPARENTLY DOING WELL WITH HER
WORK AND LIVING ARRANGEMENTS. YESTERDAY SHE CALLED FOR DIRECTIONS
TO THE ANIMAL SHELTER, HAVING BOUGHT FOOD AND TOYS FOR THE
DOGS AND CATS THERE. SHE WAS TO HAVE COME HOME FOR DINNER TODAY,
BUT 3 PHONE CALLS WENT UNHEEDED. I MADE SPAGHETTI AND GARLIC TOAST,
AND C.J. AND I ENJOYED IT MUCH. THERE ARE LEFTOVERS WHEN SHE DOES
DECIDE TO SHOW UP, AS LONG AS IT'S NOT TOO LATE - HER BROTHER HAD
TWO HELPINGS, AND WILL PROBABLY WARM MORE UP SOON. SHE, TOO, GOT
CASH AND GIFT CARDS FOR THE HOLIDAY, ALONG WITH 2 ID BRACELETS I
ORDERED - 1 GOLDTONE AND 1 SILVERTONE - AND AN INITIAL NECKLACE WITH
AN ANGEL SITTING ON IT.

AS FOR THE 'OLD MAN' - HE'S STILL TICKING, THOUGH SLOWING DOWN. IT'S
BEEN SOMEWHAT RESTFUL TO BE HOME FOR THESE 3 WEEKS, BUT THAT ENDS
ON THE 9TH AS I HEAD TO PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, FOR MY NEXT ASSIGNMENT.
AFTER THAT, I'LL BE HOME FOR 5 DAYS, THEN BACK TO HAMPTON, VIRGINIA
FOR ANOTHER 9-DAY TRIP. I HINTED TO STOPPING THE TRAVELLING, BUT
MY MANAGER AND MY ASSIGNMENT/ITINERARY GAL WOULDN'T HAVE IT.
GUESS I'M MORE VALUABLE AWAY FROM BURGETTSTOWN, OR SOMETHING.
I GOT AN ELECTRIC RAZOR, TIES, SHIRT AND PANTS, AND A PENNEY'S CARD
WHICH I USED TO BUY A LARGER SUITCASE FOR MY TRAVELS - CUTTING THE
LOAD DOWN BY A CASE, AND ENABLING ME TO CARRY MY COMPUTER AND
TRAVEL CASE OVER MY SHOULDERS, AND ALLOWING A BIT MORE ROOM FOR
SOUVENIRS, WHICH I USUALLY BRING A FEW OF BACK FOR MY CO-WORKERS.

ENOUGH ABOUT US (ME), WHAT'S NEW WITH YOU? WE REALLY DO LOVE
HEARING FROM YOU. EITHER BY PHONE, (724-263-0505) AFTER 9 AND ON
WEEKENDS, OR BY E-MAIL - "HEYRICHEY@YAHOO.COM". ANOTHER REMINDER-
CHARTEL'S CELLPHONE # IS 304-374-4490. THANKS FOR CARING, AND THANKS
FOR KEEPING IN TOUCH. AND...........THANKS, PEG/JIM, AND FRED/DEBBIE AND
BILL/COLLEEN FOR THE GIFTS!

MAY THIS YEAR BE AN ESPECIALLY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS ONE FOR YOU
AND YOURS, NOT JUST FINANCIALLY, BUT PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY!!

LOVE, C.J., CHARTEL, AND BILL
P.S. - OUR MAIL IS STILL P.O. BOX 327, SLOVAN, PA 15078.
